When I started creating this painting, I had no idea of what deep impact it would have for me personally. I thought it would be this beautiful picture of a serene stream, but as I painted this and stepped back half way through I saw the verse I had been clinging to during this season of grief upon grief:
"Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit." Jeremiah 17:7-8
This painting shows that green can grow in the deepest valley; the kind of green that can only come from the source of the Living Water.
